Artificial Soft Pink Hydrangea Stem

This faux soft pink hydrangea, featuring delicate petals, makes a wonderful focal flower in contemporary floral arrangements.

Hydrangeas are usually in flower from late summer to early autumn, and with artificial flowers you can use hydrangeas in your floral arrangements all year through.

For a classic look, add an odd number of stems to your vase of choice: 5-13 stems depending on your vase neck width, bloom diameter, and placement. For a fuller arrangement add foliage and/or filler flowers (stems with smaller blooms so they don’t overshadow your focal flower, or a stem with a cluster of small flowers such as blossom). If your arrangement is being placed where it can be viewed from all angles, you may need at least double the number of stems. Alternatively, a few, or just the one stem, looks lovely in a narrow neck vase.

This artificial hydrangea has a stem length of 70cm, and a bloom width of 18cm. For tall arrangements, your flower stems should be around 1.5x the height of their container, so you'd need a vase that's approximately 53cm in height. For low arrangements, that rule is reversed, requiring a vase around 105cm in height. You can trim your stems to fit into a smaller vase, or bend them if your vase is opaque and you'd prefer not to permanently shorten them. If you need to add some height, use glass beads or stones (which can also hide your stems); and if your vase is opaque, something as simple as scrunched up newspaper will do the trick (and no one will be any the wiser!)
